TECHNOLOGY DEPT. APPROVES TO ERASE ALL TEACHER AND STAFF DATA WITHOUT RECOURSE AND CONSIDERATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL TIME

We have gotten word from teachers and staff that the IT department under the direction of Becky Navarre have gone ahead in some areas with upgrading the computers of many teachers and staff.

No consideration for their time as they are still teaching and dealing with students to then deal with a deadline that does not make sense.  They didn't get the time to backup their information and IT went ahead and erased their computers to update.

What a shame, without using other words, that teachers are already mistreated and now add insult to injury by imposing a deadline before school is over.

How does the Board and Administration respond to this?

Board members, can we do something about the mistreatment of teachers?  Is there no dignity at all in how we treat our teachers?

They have been working hard all year and now someone who has too much power can do what they want without notice.

Once again Becky Navarre is the culprit and she is ROGUE..

  1. Where's that "CHANGE" you were promising Tobi? Or are YOU on of the co-sponsors of "need 3 to put an item on the agenda" fame? How about you Ashley? Hint to Ashley: THIS is an item you SHOULD be concerned about. Not Avilla's contract.

  2. This is just another example of the non-educational focus of FWISD. Sadly this came as no surprise to Teachers. Where is UEA? Can't wait for August 1 when I hope many Teachers will remember who UEA endorsed in this last Board election. How much more needs to come out about the Board? We get rid of that disgusting "yes man" and get what? A womanizer? We find out (to no one's surprise) that two of the longest serving and biggest anti-teacher hypocrites on the Board were indicted? Only to get off by turning evidence against the very people they profited from? Wonder if they ever reimbursed FWISD - THE CHILDREN - for their free concrete. Avilla's BLATANT insider deal that was a moment away from being approved? When all of this finally is published by someone, I wonder how those who have supported these frauds all those years will feel? "Shame" will not work on hypocrites as they have no moral compass. So Tobi - are we going to finally see that "change" you spoke about?

  3. For six weeks, or more, prior to the upgrade push, we were sent email "warnings" that it was going to happen. We also were given instructions about backing up our files and an explanation about why this was happening. I received several reminders prior to the push. I am pretty sure everyone in the district received this information. Communication is a problem when people do not read their emails. It could be alternate methods need to be explored so all get the message.

  4. Whatever. Maybe some of us are too busy actually trying to teach. No I don't believe you are an actual Teacher. There was no reason shy this had to be done when it was.

I would be careful actually supporting anyone on the site from FWISD other than the ALL MIGHTY Joe Palazallo. You will get berated unless you support a loser like him!

  6. Proof positive you are NOT a Teacher.

  7. I agree. There was not one comment here about Palazzolo. Nice try Tobi.

  8. Ignore the following comment from a wanna be Teacher whose sole purpose is to defend the repeatedly ridiculous decisions of FWISD.

  9. Wow! Vitriolic responses were not anticipated! I only stated my experience with the issue. Wishing all a summer of rejunifying experiences.

  10. Maybe I should just respond to myself like you.

  11. My comment was directed to "I love to teach" fraud above. Don't understand how these comments line up.

  12. Real Answers NeededJune 7, 2015 at 4:19 PM

I'm not following some of the blame game in these comments and I also can't keep straight if those writing comments are really admin of some kind. I would really like to know more information though.

I am a teacher. I do actually have classroom with students. I also have 3 desktop computers and one laptop in my classroom. The laptop is new, as of this year, but it sucks! (Excuse my language). No one in the technology department has been able to fix my connection issues all year. I have internet in the classroom and I can get wireless at home but if I have to take it to a staff or data meeting, it's worthless to me. It won't connect to the Internet. Plus, myself and several other teachers I know keep having problems with it communicating with our Promethean boards.

And for the desktops, our school technology person came and said he was going to update with Windows 7. One of the desktops wasn't on the list for updating, which I don't understand because it hasn't turned on all year. One of them updated but the other one didn't. My husband says that Windows XP isn't supported by Microsoft anymore. The TIE doesn't know what will happen with these two computers.

We are being asked to use technology. My students would use these computers. I would give assignments. With one working desktop and a crappy teacher laptop it's impossible and frustrating. We need working technology. Not something that makes our jobs harder.

  13. One Size Fits AllJune 7, 2015 at 9:34 PM

The over-arching problem here is a Central Administration which has no actual real-life contact with the individual campuses and what they are dealing with on a daily, weekly or yearly basis. Every Central Administration Dept. is guilty of these actions. It seems to those at the school sites that Central Admin. has nothing better to do than sit around reading about or thinking up things for them to do to improve things to make Central Admin look better. Central Admin's actions and directives indicate they think staff at the schools do not have any knowledge, direction or plans on how to best educate our students and are just sitting around waiting on the next directive from CA so they will know how to proceed. Every school is required to submit a Campus Educational Improvement Plan annually. This has become a perfunctory exercise because once the box is checked off, there doesn't seem to be any connection between CA's blanket directives to all campuses and their on-going scatter-gun approach to educational improvement at the schools or for our individual student groups. ONE SIZE FITS ALL seems to be the mantra of FWISD Central Administration.

  14. I concur with much of what you are saying. Actually, I agree with all of what you are saying! My original comment was more of an "honesty check"...not sure if that's the right term, but hopefully my meaning may be gleaned from it. There are enough problems with our district; we don't need to over-dramatize the minutiae. Fact is I received notice of the computer change in plenty of time to prepare for it. Fact is, also, the timing by IT was inconsiderate to those of us on the front lines of the district.

  15. I sent Dr. Navarre a query as soon as this post went up on Friday asking if the allegations were true. Still haven't received a response.

The district needs to guarantee communication with teachers and other site personnel DIRECTLY--never just going thru the school staff. That is a recipe for error.

  16. Ann, has anyone confirmed or denied that this other women makes $62k/year?

  17. I have the responses from Chief Monge but have mislaid them. I think they were approved with a mass of "corrections" to the TASB study. The board looked at them probably last April. I know it looks like no one is doing anything, which is technically true. The problem is that all the rules are being followed. I have asked for all the raises and have not forgotten this issue. The question is whether what was done was legal, and I don't have an answer to this.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ann if Rosibel's "promotion" to a Coordinator IV was the result of the TASB correction then we would like more information please. That means Rosibel's first appeal was denied. Now what overwhelming and convincing evidence could she have brought before the committee for the level II appeal to grant her such a huge step from secretary to a Coordinator IV? I have a Masters degree and am now where near $60K; something fishy is going on. Please investigate.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is it possible to get a print out of all the TASB corrections?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Are You Kidding Me?!June 8, 2015 at 12:26 PM

Do an Open Records Request. See if they will give you the information of who's appeals were approved and denied.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks Ann for posting their "explanation". However it doesn't really mean squat. The reason being, they didn't take into account that most of the Xp's didn't have enough memory to upgrade. Once that was done on my campus, the TIE went through and did the upgrade here. Except that my desktops didn't get upgraded just checked off. I came in today fully expecting to see the 7 screen but no, the same old XP was there. So far no word on when I'll get upgraded. It just seems that no one really knows what's going on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Exactly! We already know about Rafaela Gomez @$66k/year. How does the BOE NOT see a problem with this?? Ann, surely you see the problem? We tell teachers that after 6 years of supposed raises that a mere $159 a month increase is appropriate but, then you approve a non teaching staff member $$ like that?!?!? What an insult to our profession and to teachers! All these overpaid administrators and the countless assistants making money and receiving DOUBLE DIGIT percentage pay raises (without any justification for such a raise) I'm sorry but, this is a BIG DEAL and needs to be addressed. I recall that when we verified the deal with Rafaela Gomez Ann you said that there wasn't anything that you could do? Why? I too have a Master Degree, I work in our after school program an extra 30 hours a month AND I DONT MAKE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO $66k. If ever you demand an answer, NOW WOULD BE the time!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Rosibel just got this raise after the appeal process. Board members don't know anything. Certified people should be mad, she runs around laughing all day in her stilettos. Now she can afford more

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was just informed that Rosibel's boss Sammie Monge was on that appeal committe. If that's true isn't that a conflict of interest? There needs to some sort of an investigating.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aid that true Dr. Sutherland? Can an open records request be done to see who got approved and who all got denied? If so can you dig for us and post the results? We as taxpayers and educators need some sort transparency and enlightenment as to the justification to these ridiculous TASB "corrections."

    ReplyDelete
  26. I've already asked for it; will post it when it arrives. You can submit an open records request if you wish.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ann, can you give a brief explanation of what the aTASB corrections is? I thought this was a salary study?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Following the TASB study, individuals who felt their salaries were not properly evaluated were allowed to file an appeal. Dozens of individuals received adjustments following the appeal. Needing a name for this iteration I guess I designated it as the TASB corrections. I've asked for an electronic copy and will post it on my blog when it comes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ann, I totally respect you so I will apologize in advance if this seems a bit sarcastic. WHat the Heck? So what study was done on teachers behalf? We're you present for Mr. Poole's analysis of one teacher's paycheck? $159/a month increase after 6 YEARS? That's CRAP! If I didn't know better I'd think that damn study was nothing but some elaborate ruse to get more $$!!!! You do realize that we are lying to students when we tell them the importance of getting an education and what their projected income will be-Lies Lies All you really need to do is get your GED and YOU Too can make more than someone who has a Masters Degree. Actually, it's more than someone who has earned a PHD in our district. Look it up! 10 years even with a PHD won't get a teacher $66k or even $62k! I cannot believe that you Ann of all people would ever sit idly by and allow this to happen??!?! This is such an outrage! If it were not currently illegal for teachers and Texas to strike, well for now it's illegal. I'm so angry that this seems to be perfectly NORMAL in Fwisd!!!!!!!! I supported you in your campaign, I would like to hear something on this please!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Another thing too, how is it possible for Monge to be on the committee that made those decisions? You know sometimes the BOE looks ridiculously ignorant (even without Ashleys help)

    ReplyDelete
  31. So has anyone done a study on how little our district pays? As a matter of fact, anyone out there with knowledge of what other districts are paying??? I know that last year HEB was paying close to $4k more than our district for the same number of years experience. It may be illegal to go on strike, but it certainly not illegal to move to a better paying district. We need to flood this site with any neighboring district that's paying a substantial amount more than our district. We still have time to apply and get hired before the deadline approaches!

    ReplyDelete
  32. The irony of all this is that there are two openings in Adult Ed. for Coordinator II positions which require a bachelors degree, masters preferred paying $46,944. And yet you have two "Coordinator VI" with a GED earning a lot more. Something doesn't seem right.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why don't you just use your REAL name? Your language betrays the fact that you are NOT in a classroom.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Your husband is correct. Windows 7 is no longer supported. The fact that we still have fossils like those in our classrooms while Linares promotes and hires away - building a BIGGER Central Office - throwing millions away on law suits instead of channeling every available resource to kids and classrooms is a disgrace.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree! And why is Linares hiring and promoting people anyway?! She was just suppose to keep the ship afloat until a new superintendent arrived. Taking a cue from Becky Navarre, if those people weren't happy then they can go find another job somewhere else. I mean really does Sara Arispe really deserves to be Associate Sup.? Not to mention Steinert, Shiro, Molinar. No wonder our district is in such disarray.

  37. Okay but what say you on this whole thing? Surely you must be aware that a teacher with a PHD and 10 years experience will not make $62k/year. Why won't you stand up for your teachers? At least tell us that this person is working extra days or some extra workload to explain such a high salary. I don't expect anyone in administration or anyone on the board to support teachers except you! So please help us understand how this is allowed to continue? Perhaps this persons daily rate of pay is considerably lower than that of a certified teacher. Idk but, how will we answer this? I know that many times you are alone in supporting your teachers but I think in this instance it is imperative that you say something or offer some explanation as to why this is being tolerated. Teachers have not been given the opportunity to defend our salary and request additional pay so why is it appropriate for these people who don't work with students to be allowed to have their salary reviewed and adjusted appropriately or inappropriately.

  38. Only a non-Teacher could view the deletion of all of your files prior to the end of the school year, as "minutiae". IT is on the job longer than 99% of Teachers. They could have waited. Your comment about Palazzolo also betrays your ignorance.

  39. Unfortunately, FWISD is like every other bureaucracy in the U.S.: inefficient, bloated, and based in nepotism. If the Taxpayers of this town, Republican,
Democrat, Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, Socialist, Communist, Black Panther, Skin Head, WHATEVER could see through the rhetoric that the powers that be feed the masses, they would realize that Central Administration could be reduced in size by 50% and not only would efficiency INCREASE but the corruption and nepotism would begin to end. People in Central Office would soon realize they are there to support TEACHERS and aid the effort to EDUCATE CHILDREN. Not spend MILLIONS on senseless litigation so Dickerson and Needham look good.

    ReplyDelete
  40. True! Same old story is correct! I am deeply saddened by Ann's silence on this though. I guess its quite exhausting to be on that hill alone. Perhaps just posting the information was trouble enough for her and as with most oppression, teachers will have to decide when enough is enough! Although I believe that teachers spoke in her favor for this last election, I remain hopeful that she will chime in when raises for teachers come up! Surely, we must have an opportunity to get the same consideration as Monge's Ladies? Those of us teachers who did vote, we are waiting. The most shocking for me is how Central Office doesn't even try to hide their corruption! It's like some "Mafia Flick" where the criminals are like, "Yeah so what you gonna do bout it?"

  41. We are giving 3% to teachers and other staff. Yes I am still here. This week I wrote a critique of the process used to select the Edmentum/Odyssey program, I'm pushing more money for the substitute program, and I've said I won't vote for the budget unless they get rid of the SCAs. The effort to require 3 people to place something on the agenda is shameful; this process has not been abused and the issue is that the president's won't follow the policy and place items on the agenda when they are requested. That item is being rewritten for 2 people. Maybe with 2 people we will actually get the items on the agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  42. In my opinion, you need to stand firm Ann as you are the voice of your constituents and this is yet another subtitle attempt to silence you. CIA: We need a story of this continuing attempt to subvert the democratic process.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I hope we get a Sup, that will shake things up. Cut loose the the dead weight like Davie, Arturo Cavazos, Sorum, Arispe, Monge, Breed. Did I leave anybody out?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ann please say that "other staff" will not include anyone who benefited from the TASB study? Cmon Ms. Jimenez got $12k; I'd say she and a few others are good for several years. Furthermore, will the insurance go up yet again and swallow up the meager $135/month increase? Pardon me if I don't jump up and down over the excitement!!!! Why no study for teacher salaries??? Are we too scared to look????? I know it's a step in the right direction but, it's also a BIG SLAP in the face when Central Office will be included in that 3%.
