STAR GRAM GOES 1-3 IN EDITORIAL AWARDS

It wasn't a surprise that the editorial board of the STAR supported long standing individuals because of their ties to the old guard and also the STAR is looking for who they think will win not so much the qualities of anyone.  As anything it is an editorial piece, an opinion and not what we see in real life.
What they said:

Incumbent Tobi Jackson, 54, is seeking her second term on the board. She is challenged by Dallas high school principal Joel Aguilar, 38, who says he wants to be an advocate for students and teachers, and Sultan Cole, 45, an engineer who is also a pastor and director of a nonprofit that helps teach young children to read.
Cole, a product of the Fort Worth school system, is an impressive candidate with a high-energy, idea-filled campaign that has garnered support from various segments of the district, including the faith-based community. Having been raised by a single parent, he says he can identify with students who have to overcome obstacles in pursuit of education.
But Jackson, a 30-year educator, also has a passion for education and a keen sense of commitment to the students in the district where she went to school. She has detailed knowledge of each campus in her district and proudly touts that 80 percent of the schools in her area are ranked as meeting state standards, compared to 50 percent failing in 2010.

Wow- the number of met standard schools sure went up 20% within a few weeks.  Last time she said that the schools went up 60%, so they took her information as fact without fact checking?  So if she has 9 schools under PEG which is continuous non improvement then how do you get to 80% met standard?    SHOW us the data... she has not produced it.  She is compassionate?  Tell that to the kids who were going to ride hours on the bus and her advice was let them study.
30 year educator?  Does that include ATI who did not meet their student needs and ended up being closed by the state for lying about their information?    So she gets endorse for growing up there and knows the schoosl in detail?  Did you ask the teachers of each school because we know that she doesn't show up to all of them.

So they endorsed Needham, well nothing much to say.. we all have our thoughts about the person running the board.

Sutherland is a shoe in so we cut you some slack STAR.  Who is your choice?

  1. CIA: this needs to be a separate story. As some of us predicted months ago, this is the truth about why Ramos and Paz got TCU gigs in return for their silence on the move to Terrell. All bought and paid for. Minority children sacrificed AGAIN so Needham's buddies can make a quick buck.

  2. Sutherland a shoe in? Ha!!! Speers will whip her butt in the polls!!! And Needham will whoop this crazy woman running against her, who shall remain nameless. Because she is an IDIOT. And will never be a board member. Good luck Tobi, you need it with the racist Sultan running against you. WAKE UP PEOPLE, change needs to start at 100 N University! Weed out the idiots. Sorum, Breed, Sanchez, Moore, Steinert. Just to name a few, they are the ones hurting kids. So glad I can retire this year.

  3. I'm normally more tolerant of other peoples views when I disagree with them but after reading what you posted and who support, many of us will be glad you are retiring. I hope you have enough sick/personal days for you to start tomorrow.

  4. Blah, blah, blah. You guys are absolute idiots. So sick of your whining. If you don't like it, leave. Seriously. Take you pathetic little self to another district, or would they not hire you? So sorry. What a sad life you must live. My colleagues told me about this sad little website. So truly sad.

  5. You give REAL Teachers a bad name. F*** off and retire.

    ReplyDelete
  6. IF you were a "Teacher" you would not be supporting any of those three self-serving loons.

    ReplyDelete
  7. PHS Teacher-who do you think is responsible Sorum, Breed, Sanchez, Moore, etc? Umm??? The corrupt freakin board! Who by the way takes everything those idiots say as the ABSOLUTE TRUTH! Yeah if you're that delusional then perhaps you should go on and retire ASAP! No real teacher would ever support Jackson Speers or Needham!

  8. Now is the time for the Needham in bed with Perry picture to surface and circulate so Needham supporters can see what they are voting for.

  9. Cause your making teachers look real good right now. Hahaha, must have struck a nerve. Go grade something!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Obviously you are NOT a teacher.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm not a teacher because I don't agree with you? That's smart.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No. Because you don't sound like an informed teacher and because you are texting during the middle of class periods......DUH!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. First, I'm not texting I'm on a website. Second, it's called a planning period. Third, I hope you realize how stupid you sound! Ps, I began today's comments while in our faculty meeting at Paschal this am. Check sources if you don't believe we had one. Piss off!

  15. Yes Mr. or Ms. BubbleApril 22, 2015 at 6:05 AM

Oh no people it's true! I blog about stupid idiots at my school and a few teachers said the Same thing if you don't like it then maybe you should leave! Well, they're idiots too! Basically they live in a bubble and think that everything is rainbows and butterflies! That is until they get students in the 4th & 5th grade who can't read! Hmmm even though the freaking idiot that made the decisions to allow 28 students in a classroom without the compliance teacher or another class to be taught by someone who has no degree or certification! I call those teachers the BUBBLE teachers! Yes they live in a bubble! Wake up!

  16. My goodness....I'm crazy and an idiot? running against Needham. Wow. Thank you for the encouragement. This is a minority/majority school district. These voters will show Needham and the Downtown money people the minority/majority their votes DO count in local elections. Overturning Needham is required for these voters to have greater representation in Administration and in the classroom. Don't count me out yet Miss PHS teacher. This city needs to stop acting like our city is not changing demographically by attempting to deny a free, safe, civil, fair and free public education to all children in Fort Worth. Voting locally is more important to our city than ever before. Those who are able to remove incumbents will give our children assurance of improving TRWD and removing Jackson and Needham will insure a better public education for our children by dislodging their control over the board and insuring resources go to the classroom not the courtroom. Currently, FWISD school board is spending well past $3M to appeal a case lost in District court to a $400 an hour lawyer with no appellate experience. Just think what $3M -- toward classroom tools and teachers -- could do to improve FWISD public education. How many have seen their tax bill increase solely from School taxes? Demonstrate your disapproval of this school board by electing CRAZY, IDIOTS like me who will guard your tax dollars and bring a better Superintendent and improved resources to teachers and students in FWISD. Show Needham and company they won't get their Fort Worth Way from now forward. No more cover ups, no more waste of taxpayer money and no more poorly designed educational programs.

  17. This website provides information and facts you will not see at the Startlegram. The FWWeekly also provides far more information on how this city has been running. One supporter told me she only reads the Startlegram for the obituaries. Another expressed a total lack of information from Statlegram on FWISD issues and challenger's platforms to remedy the problems brought on by the current board.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I concur. This is an issue I've been asked about while campaigning. All I can say is "it is a dark hole" backed by moneyed interests, This matter deserves good investigative reporting. Startlegram won't do it....might cost them advertising money. FWWeekly might do it but probably won't before May 9. Thus, this falls on the shoulders of this blog. Another reason why your vote is so important. Electing board members who will pull back the curtain to shine daylight on Farrington Field property, Where is the truth about this property?

    ReplyDelete
  19. We all know you are not a teacher. In fact, you are an ex-PHS parent who has only greed in this fight.

    ReplyDelete
  20. AMEN! VERY well said. The continuing waste of taxpayer funds on litigation is outrageous enough. Now the "cat is out of the bag" on the absolute FRAUD of moving the STEM/Performing and Visual Arts from the science and cultural district - which we VOTED on in the Bond - to that God-forsaken Terrell campus. What a disgrace. This is where Jackson made the infamous speech about two hour bus rides being a time for "study" and opportunity to practice "time management" while her children go elsewhere. This is also why the silence of Ramos and Paz were bought off with trinkets from TCU. My God the FEDs need to investigate this cesspool.

  21. Linda, with all due respect. Is it even possible for you to not mention the Joe P lawsuit? We are tired of that. Tell me about what you would do to fix the central office. That's where the money is being wasted. Then I might listen.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Linda, wow, the fact that you would rather support a bigoted anti-LGBT preacher (watch his video on YouTube or as posted to this site) who uses his black privilege to leverage southeast churches into breaking IRS non-profit laws or a principal from Dallas who couldn't possibly get away from his day/night job long enough to devote time to being a competent board member is quite telling on your part. Based on the fact Jackson got totally shafted with redistricting a couple of years ago when they took something like 10 schools away from her and gave her 12 totally failing ones mid way through her term makes me want to cut her some slack. From what I hear from teachers east of 820, her former schools there would give anything to be back with Jackson and away from Dunbar-centric Moss who hardly ever shows her face on a campus. And Linda, please, you think this blog and the FW Weekly can sort out the truth and "facts"? Give me a break. There is no way to sort out truth from fiction from speculation on this blog. Just watch what happens in response to my post, because the venom will flow from all corners trying to discredit what I've written. If it weren't for strip club and sex phone ads, the Weekly wouldn't even exist. As for Needham and Sutherland, it goes without saying that they're BOTH well past their prime, but not too many people are willing to work like dogs for no pay. And I'm almost afraid to see who runs when Moss and Sims decide to finally retire. Someone please buy Sutherland a Roberts Rules of Order and a printout of the laws as they pertain to school board responsibilities, for Christ Sakes, so she will at least know procedures. I will give you credit for running, even if it's an uphill battle against an entrenched enemy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You know, I will get blamed for posting this! Well put. Truth hurts sometime!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Funny you are "tired of that" given the people you profess to support are still spending hundreds of thousands in legal fees still fighting Palazzolo. Thanks to his litigation, FWISD will FOREVER be synonymous with public school corruption. No amount of continued wasteful spending will change or sugar-coat that. You go Linda! Give 'em hell.

  25. setting it straightApril 22, 2015 at 11:40 PM

The truth is, you are one in the same person so stop slapping yourself on the back. Jackson "got totally shafted" when she decided to run for office in the first place! She is way out of her element. She is most comfortable with her head in that dark, warm place known as Needham's backside.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Planning periods are not for blogging on websites now are they? Then again, if you WERE a teacher, you would know that and would be spending that time as it was intended - preparing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Where did LL say she was supporting a "bigoted anti-LGBT preacher"? Obviously you don't know Tobi Jackson either.

    ReplyDelete
  28. How can anyone NOT mention the on-going waste of millions of education dollars spent on legal fees which is the Palazzolo case - even a phony "PHS Teacher"? Especially when it is money being spent to make Needham, Robbins, Jackson and their buddy "Slippery Ray" Dickerson
somehow look good? This Board has now spent more in legal fees on Palazzolo than what he was awarded by the Jury and they are STILL spending more. Thanks to Linda for not forgetting Joe or the Teachers who stood with him. His case has set precedent and thanks to those fools, FWISD will FOREVER be known as an ISD which retaliates against employees who report wrongdoing.

  29. I have never stated I support any bigoted speech. In fact, I support LGBT community. Freedom of speech is protected....even hate speech, unfortunately. I have been to 2 events where Mr. Cole has spoken publicly. However, he has not included "homophobia" in his public speaking....texts and videos can be doctored....when I hear him openly in public in my presence speak against the LGBT community, you can bet I will speak to him. What I have said in public is central administration must be reviewed and "dead wood" needs to go; salaries at central administration need review, redundancies eliminated, early retirement offered or transfers with salary reductions made. Money saved through these changes and money paid to $400 an hr. attorney must stop, and all resources gained by these changes should be directed to the classrooms and students in order to return to teaching basic skills versus test taking. Tying teacher salaries to testing outcomes is unfair and needs review. Finally, vouchers and charter schools receiving public money should not be the solution to solving the issues with public education. Our teachers need to be given autonomy to teach. Principals should be given skills to run their campuses. Skills such as budgeting, human resources and organizational management.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Linda, please don't forget about PEOPLE SKILLS! I'm sorry but some Principles need a wake up call STOP WITH THE DICTATORSHIP MENTALITY and be a team leader for goodness sakes! I see so many talented, gifted, passionate educators just give up after YEARS of this crap! Enough is enough! Teachers are not respected or valued and on my campus we are devalued and degraded! I am just as qualified as both fools on this campus, yet I suppose I'm not as well connected!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm sorry if you read something unintended in my messages. I fully support teachers and principals to be given more autonomy to be able to teach whether it's basic skills to coaching. I would like for principals to have opportunities to resolve issues within their schools rather than having to ask permission from central administration. For example, the Vaughn Foundation assisted a school district prepare principals gain skills in budgets, human resources, and organizational skills to name a few items so principals could resolve issues within their own school. As I understand FWISD process, principals are currently required to consult with Central Administration for everything from getting a substitute teacher to janitorial matters. When my daughter was in AHHS 2006-2010, there was a terrible rat infestation in the area where Xerox machine was located. Every employee in the building was afraid to go into the room. I happened to be at AHHS the day they were waiting for someone from central administration to fix the problem. I'm not connected either....which is why it is so difficult to be out here fighting for quality improvements and best practices on the school board.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Linda I'm just pointing out that many principals need to go! Some are only there because they know someone or are related to someone and they are TERRIBLE!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmmmm....yes I have been told principals are selected for their connections to Central Administration through nepotism and/or cronyism....another thing which needs changing. One duty of school board is oversight of central administration. Any new hire at principal level should be brought to school board for approval. Ms. Needham is widely known for "choosing" principals, etc in her schools. However when I specifically asked in Open Records request how many people Ms. Needham assisted with employee hires through recommendations, the district replied they DID NOT have that information. This will have to go to AG for investigation.

  34. Very true! Any Principal or AP should be willing to spend one year at a teachers salary with the only extra pay coming from the extra days! Only after he or she proves highly qualified to lead, then a raise is considered! I'd be the 1st to volunteer! Anyone unwilling-GOT TO GO! It's a pipe dream I know but, it's time to totally clean out ALL DEAD WEIGHT!

    ReplyDelete
  35. If I can win this position, I have lots of "dreams" or as my campaign card says new ideas to reform hierarchy in Central Administration. I have the passion and skill set to set new ideas in motion. Nothing attempted to change administration will be a cake walk but I'm in your words "dreamer" that the right group of board members can push back the bad habits of past administration and board. I hope more like you will support me at the voting booth.
