VIOLATE BOARD POLICY AND GET AWAY WITH IT IN THE FWISD!

So the following people violate board policy and get to keep their jobs plus raises.  So the board of trustees cannot enforce its own policies and makes special considerations for all.  I wonder if any other employee would be treated the same way.  I wonder if teachers did not do their lesson plans or every little thing Sorum wanted if they can ask for board consideration?  How about a raise?

Where is the oversight?  People are fired for dumb reasons and yet their majesties get to stay!

  1. People should be careful when publicizing statements like this. Dr. Meng was the much respected principal of Paschal HS until about 4 years ago. She took over the roll-out of the Programs and Schools of Choice which have been received by many with appreciation. She did plan to retire by has stayed, to our great benefit.

  2. Whatever! Are we flip flopping again? You can't pick and chose who you enforce the policy for. "To our great benefit" is your opinion which you are entitled to - but don't force that on the rest of us.

  3. Of course you are right. I intended to be responding to the suggestion that Dr. Meng was a "retire rehire", with the implication that she was hired because she had friends.

  4. I apologize for my harsh reply. We are so frustrated with the corruption from the Board on down. As you have read and heard, children are sitting in broken desks - if at all, while the Central Office folks with their high $$ payrolls are tripping over themselves. Our classrooms are overcrowded. Most of our "leaders" have never taught in a Middle School or High School classroom. These five people should have until the end of the year to move or resign. Barbara Griffith is universally despised - all the more so with stories of her residency her business on the side, and her proposed Cadillac (I am told she already receives a fuel stipend). Not one Teacher, Aide or Employee who has witnessed work on this or any previous Bond proposal believes for one minute that this is again nothing more than fraud lining someone's pockets. Too much waste.

  5. Just look at which supers gave people special permission to ignore board policy. Walter would give anybody anything, and almost did, to get and keep their support particularly since he was always spending someone elses money. Melodie was just giving the haves more because that's what she did. Like most everyone else on this site, I'm so tired of those greedy sob's downtown lining their pockets, or others, with money that could be spent in the classroom or repairing what's broken. Speaking of which today I observed 4 men repairing 2 small holes in a parking lot at a school I passed. 3 were standing around looking at the hole and 1 was holding a shovel looking at the hole. It was such a bad joke I stopped to see how long this would go on. 15 minutes later they were joined by a 5th man and all 5 looked at the hole for another 10 minutes before any work began. Take away the hole and the location and we could easily be talking about how they try to solve problems, or create them, downtown.

  6. Avila said he has a problem telling people where they can live. He doesn't have to tell them where they can live, he and the board don't have to hire anyone who doesn't meet the qualifications for the position which include a requirement they are familiar with and will adhere to Board policy.

  7. Avilla is hypocritical boob who was not even elected. He was placed in that position when his opponents were intimidated into withdrawing. Anywhere else that would have been investigated and may have been found to be a crime - but not in Fort Worth. You would think after the public scandals of the past five years, city fathers would have tired of the embarrassment of Judy Needham. Where are they? Where are the Tea Party activists? Where are the Civil Rights activists (those who did not sell out for a $$)? Where are those supporting schools of choice? or Texas Appleseed? or National Center for Youth Law? Someone, somewhere needs to speak for the children of this ISD. The Board is not and never has. They are politicians building their own reputations - telling parents and children to practice "time management" and to "study on the bus" after boarding as early as 5:30 a.m. Naming schools and ball parks after themselves while spending millions silencing those who came forward.

  8. A very qualified director spoke out againt her then boss who bullied and severely micromanaged her to the point she begged Dr. Sorum to step in and stop the torment. The person who was bullied was wrongfully demoted and the bully got promoted to acting superintendent. It is absolutely horrible how a good, professional, and honest person was treated at the hands of power hungry people.
This person would like to remain anonymous at this time. But I believe she is going to the news media soon with the help of a news reporter. Write your Senators folks an investigation into the corrupt nature of FWISD leadership (as far as I can tell the one board member who has been given power to run the district) need to be held accountable for their unetical, unjust, and self promotion antics at the cost of children, families and taxpayers.

  12. Bored, I'm not sure what rock you've been under for the last few years?!?!? Ann has more sense than any board member we have! Yes, I realize that's not saying a whole lot but, she's fair, she calls people out for their BS and most of all MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE EDUCATORS SUPPORT HER! Show me one other board member or upper mgt downtown who advocates for teachers and students like her! You must be some fool that she's had to confront! Don't listen to that crap, Ann! You have many supporters! Hell, I rode on the bus with you to Austin a few years ago to support our schools and I don't recall any other board members or administrators willing to be there! I know many others who feel the same and who are willing to help you walk the streets to campaign.

  13. Bored,
You obviously don't care about kids or Fort Worth schools. We need all board members to be proactive and speak out against the corrupt leadership and the "take care of the top management" mentality. Dr. Sutherland is the only ethical board member asking questions that all board members SHOULD be asking. Bored is probably someone who is in the group of wrong doers. I call on all Fort Worth citizens to call Austin for an internal investigation on the way Fort Worth unethically and unprofessonally does business and packs unethical and bullies pockets with tax payers money. Ann Sutherland keep up the good work. Doing the right thing is not always easy but right will win out against wrong every time!!!!!

  14. What has she done? Ended CBA's-nope! Control Sorum-nope! Made and positive change for our children-nope! The entire board needs to be changed. That is all I am stressing.

  15. Bored, when you're the only one trying to change things, it's hard to accomplish much. When Rangel and the Fat Dr were there she had some allies that could accomplish some things but with the board as it stands now all she can do is call attention to problems and play the role of the squeeky wheel. So far she's done a good job at that. Until the people of this city get tired of all of the crap and corruption among not only it's elected officials on the board but those in the administration she'll probably have to continue to fight alone.
