The question comes because of a source letting us know from deep inside central that only one person applied which is the current finalist. We know from reports and from some board members that kept telling us that they had finalists and those were the ones given further inquiry but we will never know who they were or proof that they actually existed.
The biggest thing is that the selection is so secretive. In reading the Santa Fe paper, Ray and Associates used them to find Boyd. Now they feel Ray and Associates took him away. So it seems that the search may not have been a search but basically a selection of the person they already knew about. Makes us wonder how Ray and Associates functions and what connections they have to the people who are sending Broad superintendents around the country. Below you will see that there is a connection with bringing non-traditional candidates and the connection to the Broad program, etc.
As we mentioned some calls were being made from central office to find candidates to apply and that's what we confirmed. Now of course board members can let us know if this true or not and what evidence can they provide. We know first hand from the people who made the calls. The news reports 100s of applicants but Boyd says in the paper that he was called, just as he was called to Santa Fe. But was he really called because of what he does or is it the connection with Ray and Associates that they keep tabs on their preferred candidates? We know TFA and Broad people are moved to make changes quickly and swiftly around the country. Check out Atlanta, Dallas, etc.
Non-traditional is key here because Mr. Boyd was assistant to the chief in Miami-Dade then went to Philly, got principal and moved up quickly by the person connected to the Broad style leadership who then he took to Santa Fe. Dallas superintendent also has an assistant who is TFA, young. The leader of the teacher performance evaluation is TFA and so on. The training is not coincidental.
One reason a member said the process was secretive is because they didn't want the candidates bosses to know which makes sense to some degree but how can you hide it? You have to ask for time off to travel or as the process went, did Skype or teleconference which to me as a finalist would be more in person. This is why we ask for transparency when the there is so much done behind closed doors, hence the raises, etc. SO now we depend on the same people to pick the new person without more input than just community sessions that who knows if they are taken into account. This keeps getting weirder and weirder......
