The wisdom of the leadership continues to make our heads shake but it doesn't surprise us from how our district has been governed. Now the inevitable has arrived, Metro on the Board Agenda for this Tuesday.
See the link to the board brief:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B58nQYNsVgwwTzVYSWZmY2VFSHc/view?usp=sharing
As you read through it they mention the comprehensive study but they never show the study itself. What factors were considered, what data to determine that the site would be the best fit?
So now we come to the Tobi's hour or more bus drive or wait do these students get transportation? As we read through the brief there is no mention of it. So now you are affecting the students that need more of our support so that we can given them an opportunity to rejoin their school community. The district's issue is not the social, emotional or academic needs of the students, as you look at rationale, it is based on saving the district money: PURE and SIMPLE. The more we read the brief they tout having space outside to play and access to a gym, etc. why not access to an equitable education based on their particular needs that include age based curriculum and interactions. Let's get Tobi to drive the bus with the students or perhaps pick them up and she can help them study by telling them why she voted to move them farther.
Is this the result of My Brother's Keeper? Looks like the Keeper is not doing its fiduciary duty to help the most marginalized. I think this warrants a look from the office of civil rights because this is looking more like a prison style move. Cram them all together, give them space to roam around outside but nothing regarding how academically they will be supported. No game plan.
PBIS is a program of strategies to help prevent behavior before it starts. While there may be components of support for the behavior, why are you basing your promise on a program. Once again depending on a program like we always do and look at where we are. So now our African American students and Latinos are not being equitably represented on the board. Recall how more of our minority students are in an alternative setting and look at what their solution is.
This is disturbing:
and can provide these students with appropriate instructional resources. This includes access to a full size cafeteria and gymnasium, together with outdoor grounds for physical education purposes.
Note to self: what are appropriate instructional resources? access to all facilities is a given not a reason to merge 6-12 together. When are 6-12 graders allowed recess?
This is a bad move just to accommodate adults because of too much traveling for them. Why not move technology and others to middle level? Then they can have enough room to run outside. Why is it on the backs of our students? So punish the ones that have no say so.. just being herded like cattle.
Tell us how strategic goal #1: Student Achievement will get better? They never tell you because they have no clue.
Board Members: this is on you and a lot of hypocrisy from all of you. Once again the deals were done behind closed doors and the public is left out. What say you Savior Ramos? Where is that cultural diversity and poverty you so claim to know first hand? Give us a good reason as to why this makes sense without the money part and how this will transform kids from having to go there in the first place. ASIDERECHITO just hit a curve!! Did you tell the staff at Metro? Have you even bothered? or are you too busy womanizing to get some work done?
We shall see if they will debate it and let the public know.. can they actually deliver on that?
It all starts with leadership that can model what being a great citizen is and with who we have now.. we can see that just as kids mimic their parents.. the students mimics who the leaders are and that is the scary part.
VOTE NO! Voice your opinions here and let Board members know this is a bad idea. They do read the blog...
Womanizing? What woman in their right mind would even take a second look at that bald nopa en la frente man??? Got elected and went to his head.
ReplyDeleteHis head was already big! At least then his head could fit through the door, but now, his head has its own zip code! They're all lying sacks of shit!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise here. We'd all heard it was going to happen just not when. No one should be surprised either that the decision was made behind closed doors. That's they way this board does things just like the Water board does. Gosh I wish we could find a common denominator in there somewhere. Oh wait there is. That happy uplifting, do all for the common folk team of Needham and Leonard. Marty Leonard's father would die all over again if he could see what she has done on the water board and through Needham done to the FWISD. When I was growing up the Leonard family did things to help Ft. Worth, and make a few dollars for themselves, but they NEVER would have done and didn't do the kind of underhanded backroom crap that she has helped sponsor.
ReplyDeleteNeedham and Leonard...what an embarassment to their families. Or is this the way Fort Worth has been doing business all along. What a couple of old ladies...allowed to control this entire city, from the media to the school district to who knows what else! And it is allowed! Fort Worth Way, North Side, South Side, East Side and West Side...will always be the Fort Worth Way no matter who sits on City Council, Mayor, or school board!
ReplyDeleteThey whole we will keep them apart idea i snot true, so a fire drill happens they will leave half this kids in the building? Who gets the one gym and when? Who gets the one cafeteria and when? Who gets the one library and when? The one principal they do keep does what, run up and down the stairs all day from Middle to high school students? one nurse, who gets to see the nurse and when?
ReplyDeleteThis is really Gerald Magin, the principal at Metro. I am unsure who claimed me as a response, but I cannot and will not comment on this situation here. I am respectfully asking the comment attributed to me to please be removed. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWe hear the womanizer hired another girl friend named Candace. She reports to the undereducated Raul Perez. He likes them of all races. We are waiting on the black woman now. Reports from juvi confirmed. Raul is no better. Ask him about Yvonne working with Cavazos. Lets get Joel elected. He won't womanize!
ReplyDeleteMs. Magin it happened to me also except with me, I shared something with A TACKY FIRESTARTER (poor choice by me of course because I should've known better) Hmm some little ol retired volunteers should just stay retired! Perhaps in your case, the goal was to provoke a response from you either positive or negative! People shouldn't be so scared of voicing an opinion in this district! Matter of fact we should encourage it if intended to improve our incredibly flawed leadership. I wouldn't recommend profanity though, no matter how angry you might get (comes easy for some of us) BUT WAKE UP ALL OF YOU WHO continue to not have an opinion or independent thought of YOUR OWN! Tons of education malpractice happening in this district and we just remain QUIET!!! Hello?? Complacency makes you just as culpable and PRETENDING it's all rainbows and butterflies well, that makes you look just plain STUPID!
ReplyDeleteGerry has to fight for the kids he supposedly helps. Quit bringing that sellout board member to your campus. We know you kiss his butt and that's why you are willing to stay quiet. We have corrupt staff everywhere in the Ns. Ramos is harboring all kinds of womanizers including the AP Barrett at JP Eldar and all those Mexican principals sleeping with teachers. All corrupt and not about kids. Nothing but skirt chasers. Need more? Torrez at Kirkpatrick has his main squeeze down the street. Ramos is a class act. I think he hosts orgies for his district. He sets the tone. Justice please!! Bring back Vasquez.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? The problem is this district does not want someone who calls it the way they see it and Vasquez is just like that! I love that about him although it didn't win everyone over. Particularly the ones who were not doing their job and he would piss so many people off but MAN if you were for the students HE would always support you! The problem is that WHO wants to return to the cesspool that our district has become???
ReplyDeleteOh yeah and what about Mr. Santana? That pervert has a long list of offenses towards women! I wonder where he was promoted to? Sadly unless The women who were victimized by this man choose to remain silent. Not that I don't understand how they were treated by our district and yet he's just one of many. Whatever happened to the BTAP that he got pregnant? Should expose that pig for Who he is?
ReplyDeleteStay focused folks! The new juvenile detention center is being built right now at FWISD. Board will do as they please...personal gain, paybacks for the city. Truancy court is a cash cow for the city. Now a detention center...wow, who runs this city?
ReplyDeleteGuess we are about to see what each Board Member is made of. Will they stand up to Needham or not? Wonder what Sutherland will do??
ReplyDeleteThis will be a disaster for those children sent to mid-level. You will be condemning them to a life of crime and abuse. The Public must know. Where are Sims, Moss, and Ramos? Feeding at "Master's house" - eating the crumbs that fall from her table.
ReplyDeleteYou are delusional. Vasquez sold everyone out in order to run against Lon Burnham - with NEEDHAM'S help and support. Where the hell were you? Mars?
ReplyDeleteSutherland will be voting "no".
ReplyDeleteYou Go Ann!!!!👍👍👍
ReplyDeleteStand firm!!!
ReplyDeleteNope helped him campaign actually and I'm pretty sure running against Lon Burnham didn't require any selling out. So basically you didn't really know him and you sure the HELL never worked for him because if you had THERE WOULD BE NO DOUBT! Did he draw the bar high? That's an understatement! OMG! I heard him tell a few people to get the h&@( out of his building for not doing their job. Oh and he had a nack for pissing people off but, mostly it was justified and inspiring for those of us who were doing ours. Maybe you shouldn't put do much stock in gossip!
ReplyDeleteAmen Ann!!!
ReplyDeleteDr. Linares is taking this item off the agenda for further review.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding news
ReplyDeleteSmart move
ReplyDeleteJust wondering. Is it legal and proper to remove an item from the published agenda without benefit of public discussion? It seems obvious it was removed because you (Dr. Sutherland) stated you would vote "no" and as stated here on CIA there would be public outcry if the Board dared pass the proposal.
ReplyDeleteI neglected to thank you Dr. Sutherland for once again taking a courageous stand for children!! We desperately need more of you on the Board!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what the law is regarding removal of items from the agenda--it says the Supt. puts the agenda together and the President approves it. I remember Melody removing an item when it was clear the votes were not there to pass it. It may have been more correct for me to say "the item will be removed" than "Linares will remove it". I went home sick about 8 pm but I think the board agreed to remove the item and that it was actually done during the meeting, which would have been proper under any reading of Robert's Rules.
ReplyDeleteThe public testimony against putting the two schools together was exemplary, I thought--different citizens with different perspectives all agreed that it was a BAD proposal. Thanks to each of you who testified and to Trustee Ramos who led from the board. He met with heads of our university training programs to learn of their opposition to this proposal.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I observed Dr. Sorum playing with his cell phone throughout the public comment on his proposal. For our staff to exhibit this rudeness toward our citizens is unacceptable.
Perhaps but I'm sorry to say it's the norm and not so shocking. Mr. Sorum like many in upper mgt. think they are beyond reproach. We continue to allow them to act in despicable ways with impunity so, I guess it's not that shocking.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. God Forbid Cecelia Speer were to unseat Ann. More employees need to speak of their experiences with that unethical person.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget to mention: Tobi Jackson was the BIGGEST vocal supporter of this move on the Board. Of Course Needham was pulling the strings behind the scenes.
ReplyDeleteOnce the agenda is published it is the BOARD's decision to act -- up or down -- or table item for further review. Open Meetings requirements are clear on this issue. Administration does not dictate to the board. Administration WORKS for the board. The BOARD is responsible to the PUBLIC. It's called chain of command. It appears from reading Ann's blog this morning the PUBLIC was heard and BOARD listened. There are forces that want to unseat Dr. Sutherland. It will be important for everyone to get behind her or Speer will use her negative influence and evidently campaign attacks against ANN. Fight back Ann.
ReplyDeleteAnn - you didn't do yourself any favors when you made the comment that you wanted to give your input but it wouldn't be as long as what Dr. Linares had to say - was kind of an unneccessary slam in front of the rest of the board. They are already gunning for you.
ReplyDeleteTobi Jackson was the one that called Dr. Linares on this issue.
ReplyDeleteYou must be Cecelia Speer, No employee in FWISD has ANY respect for that gold-digger Linares anyway. Needham bought her testimony at Palazzolo's trial with the promise of Interim Super once they canned Dansby who allowed himself to be used as the scapegoat by Needham. Robbins is no better. This ISD is continuing its free fall to oblivion. Just sit back and keep wasting tax dollars on litigation (not just Palazzolo either). This Board does not know how to conduct "legal" and "ethical" Board meetings. That's what at least two current lawsuits are about anyway.
ReplyDeleteThat's the age-old problem: The ethics and conduct who WORKED for their money vs. their offspring who INHERIT it and have no clue.
ReplyDeleteLik Xavier Sanchez! Now asst. Supt...next Balandran $
ReplyDeleteAsi Derichito!?!? NOT!
ReplyDeleteThis should of been avoided from the start. Election years suddenly cause Jackson to react? Ramos to lead? That's where oversight is needed. The questions should of been asked and it be the norm. So how much longer will sorum stay? When will real leaders step up to see that we are headed in the wrong direction?
ReplyDeleteFunny how Cole was silent on this issue. Makes me wonder - is he a REAL candidate or will he drop out at the last minute - especially if Aguilar is eliminated,
ReplyDeleteThe taxpayer dollars spent at $400 an hour in an attempt to defend the indefensible and without oversight of this contract lawyer has exceed the amount of the whistleblower judgment in Wise County District Court by a jury
ReplyDeleteYes. Jackson supported the move. Recall the ride on the bus comment. Now that she has opposition she now wants to seem like she cares. Phony!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is why hiring a new Superintendent with a backbone who will undertake review of job descriptions in central administration and salary structure as well as job performance. In addition to hiring a strong Superintendent, consideration needs to be given to hiring a Chief Education/Curriculum Officer devoted to bringing appropriate curriculum to under performing schools in our district.
ReplyDeleteRead Ms. Needham's financial report. She has received money from TRWD supporters and donated money to other candidates to unseat Sutherland and to Jackson to maintain her candidacy. Look at the expenditure to the Epstein firm and ask yourself how is this money is spent to support Needham's candidacy. My candidacy is self funded and comprised of grassroots support. You will see my signs after tonight's forum....school board building and my campaign literature as well.
ReplyDeleteRe-electing the same candidates Sims, Moss, Needham will produce the same results. Every citizen must vote to overturn incumbents who allow inappropriate behavior between teachers and students, inappropriate behavior by personnel, and stop the Peter principle of rewarding incompetence.....hiring non-credentialed teachers either through cronyism or nepotism. It is time for Best Practices in Education for FWISD.
ReplyDeleteYOU GO LINDA!!! We desperately need change. Time for every employee living in District 5 to get behind your campaign. To sit on the sidelines after the last 5 years is to support the continued corruption.
ReplyDeleteCurrent and Former FWISD Employees: If you live in District 5 and you are not supporting Linda - whatever your lame ass excuse - you are part of the problem. Stop thinking about yourself and get involved. We need change - not more photo ops of Needham in bed with Isabel Perry - or anyone else.
ReplyDeleteActually if you want a list of names of employees Dr. V sold out once Needham convinced him to run for State Rep, I can provide it. Start with Blanca Salina. It was Vasquez not Needham who attacked her in the Level 3. Should I go on? By the way, I was the original "Truth".
ReplyDeleteSalinas
ReplyDeleteSultan Cole was silent on this and many other issues. I am going to predict that Cole is a plant. A phony candidate. In the event the run off is between Jackson and Cole, I predict Cole will withdraw and give it up to Jackson.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to this party, but who in the world would think it is okay to put middle schoolers in the same DAEP building with secondary students, some of whom are 18+ years old. I'm not orginially from FW, but the politics here baffle me. Are decisions ever made with the children's best interest at heart? OR - Is it always about maintaining the status quo? A new superintendent will mean nothing if the "same" (diffirent name/same mind) people are in leadeship. We need help and real leadership in East FW! #smh
ReplyDeleteThe post is written in very a good manner and it contains many useful information for me. local movers
